Biblical scholarship used to be dominated by dissolving the bible into its constituent parts.
Since then, informed by archaeology, the question has changed to asking how those sources came to be collated and synthesized into the Book of Books.
That process may have only reached completion after the destruction of the second temple, in a competition between emerging Christianity and rabbinic Judaism.
