Answered prayer

Here is the pewsheet for the week.

I am so excited to have a chance to fill in the parish on an answer to prayer that has been personally very close to my heart. My Ukrainian friend, Diana, was forced to leave and come to NZ in 2014 after the Annexation of Crimea, her home. The recent invasion by Russian forces swept through the town she grew up in and meant many school friends became soldiers. Her sister evacuated from Kyiv. Her mother tried to evacuate with her grandma, leaving her father behind, and the conditions were so difficult, crowded and expensive in the east of the country that they returned to the war zone.

Diana has faced uncertainty since 2014. She is now on track for residency here in NZ, with her husband and 3 daughters. Her mother is arriving in NZ in less than 2 weeks. Once her father has his international passport, he will hopefully be able to bring her grandma here as well. Diana has a new permanent job in Wellington, in her profession (I met her working as an early morning cleaner in 2017. She has 2 PhD’s.) It has been so hard, and there are still many uncertainties. But this is enormous answer to prayer—and I’m glad to get the chance to share it.

I have prayed for this since I first met her. She was not sure she would ever get to see her mother again, or that she could stay in NZ. So now I am encouraged to keep holding on for the other things I am praying for!

Have a great week.
