School Centenary Postponed until 2022

With uncertainty around large gatherings and national travel, the decision has been made to once again postpone the Saint Mark’s School Centenary celebrations until sometime in 2022. The hope is that by that stage we will have more clarity on restrictions for gathering, and we will be able to celebrate in the completed St Mark’s Church.

If you have already registered and paid, you will have hopefully received an email from the School office with details on receiving a refund. If you haven’t received that, please contact the school for more details.

Building Delays

Lockdown and shipping delays (as well as weather issues and unexpected repair needs) have also affected the repair and betterment for St Mark’s Church. We had previously been aiming for a completion date in late December, but that has now been pushed into early next year. Once we’re more confident of a date we’ll publicise it along with some church and community events to celebrate its re-opening. I’m very confident we will be in the renewed church well before Easter (17th April, 2022). Whether we get to celebrate Easter in the church will be up to the pandemic…

I am also aware that we had promised a parish-wide building update before lockdown. My plan is to share an update with you all soon after we are back to worshipping in person, and I will publicise that date as soon as we have clarity on when that might be.

Daylight Saving

A reminder that Daylight Saving time begins at 2am next Sunday 26th September. Remember to put your clocks FORWARD one hour before heading to bed next Saturday night (Spring forward, Fall back).
