Changes
For those returning from holidays – welcome!
For those still on holidays – enjoy!
For those on permanent holiday – stop looking so smug!
After a summer hiatus, this week sees the return of weekly pewsheets. It seems much has changed since the last iteration on 19th Dec (births, baptisms, school finishing, retirements, house moving, deaths, eruptions, tsunamis). But some things remain the same. We still gather (at time of writing) under the amber traffic light restrictions. We still gather in the School (hopefully only for another 2 months). We still gather to worship the unchanging God.
A word on COVID
The particularly transmissible Omicron variant knocking fairly incessantly at Aotearoa’s door. The Prime Minister has said that any unlinked community transmission of the virus will lead to a shifting to the red-light settings within 48 hours. In terms of our services, this doesn’t create a significant change to our vaccine-pass-required services. We will still be allowed 100 people, we will still be allowed refreshments with some restrictions, but we will require some extra distance in seating. We will continue to live-stream services for those unable or uncomfortable coming to services.
A word on St Mark’s Building
I will give a verbal update after church, but the work on St Mark’s is continuing well. The chapel is continuing particularly quickly with the external stone work and glass fitting due to take place at the end of the week. There are some stubborn problems with the belltower strengthening and related work which means we’re unlikely to be occupying the site by Ash Wed (2nd Mar) as previously hoped. I am still confident that we will be in by Easter (17th Apr) or St Mark’s Patronal (24th Apr).
