Instruments of Communion

Carpet

You will have noticed the new red carpet in the foyer. We had found that the change in levels leading up to the church porch was causing some to trip and so we've made the change to ensure this rise is more visually obvious an all people remain safe on our site. I confess the colour was quite a shock initially, but it is growing on me. If you notice anything around the space that could be improved, please let myself or one of the Wardens know. Or, write the idea in the red hardcover maintenance book in the bookshelf in the foyer. It's very helpful having others eyes at work.

Work on the rental at Vincent Place continues at pace. I continue to thank all those involved, especially Barb & Hugh, Anna & Nick and Richard for the hundreds of hours they have poured into getting the place up to standard.

Lambeth

The Anglican church is the 3rd largest Christian denomination with some 85 million members worldwide (the Catholic and Orthodox churches remain the largest). To say our governance system is complicated is quite the understatement, but key to our polity are four "Instruments of Communion". These four things help us remain connected as a body internationally whilst maintaining a level of freedom locally. Once about every 10 years since 1867 all active Anglican bishops are invited to gather at Lambeth to pray, pass resolutions, and discuss matters of concern.

The 15th session of Lambeth is soon underway, with our own Bishop Peter in attendance. They have asked for our prayers, and they will certainly need them. I have printed a few prayer guides, but they're also available online at www.lambethconference.org, along with an option to sign up to emails keeping you abreast of what's happening and what to pray for.

Organ

As you are all aware, the St Mark's organ sustained water damage whilst in storage arranged by Church Property Trustees during our repairs. Insurers last week agreed to repairs being undertaken, however CPT is arguing for replacement on the basis that extent of damage could keep coming out over the years. A replacement instrument would come with a 10 year guarantee. Barb & Anna.
