From the Wardens

A Parish Camp in late winter 2022 is in the early planning stage – if you would like to be involved with organising this, or would like more information, please talk to Barb.

On our new website we have included links to groups we belong to. Here’s a little bit more about two of those community initiatives:

King George V Reserve Trust (also known as the Tiny Forest) behind the Scout Den in Centaurus Rd is an indigenous riparian reserve along the Heathcote River – they’re always looking for volunteers!

The forest is part of the Opawaho Heathcote River Network – this group is committed to working collaboratively to restore the ecological health of the Opawaho Heathcote River and its catchment. You can help make the river healthier by turning up to clean up events, installing a LittaTrap in your stormwater drain, taking your friends for walks along the river and its reserves, picking up any litter you see.

Another way you can help the environment is to remember to bring along your used batteries to the collection point at church so we can dispose of them safely – thanks to Alastair J for volunteering to take these to the Eco Depot hazardous waste site.

This aligns with the 5th Mark of Mission – which calls us to safeguard the integrity of creation, and sustain and renew the life of the earth.
