From the Vicar

Firstly, congratulations to a parish family on the safe arrival of their 4th child on Sunday 29th.

In other, less exciting news, welcome back to alert level 3 as things slowly return to a normality of sorts with limited commerce and construction re starting. As I peek out of the Vicarage windows, I can see the familiar sight of fluro-vests and hard hats safely spaced around the St Mark’s Church worksite. Thanks be to God for an excellent site-manager and architect who have been working behind the scenes to ensure all was ready to go this morning.

While I was happily in bed, one of our newer neighbours, Waharoa Co-op (in the old Opawa Mall pharmacy) apparently had a long queue of folk getting drive-through kawhe and keke at 12:01am on Wednesday morning. Small local businesses will need our assistance in coming days, so I do encourage you to treat yourself to a coffee somewhere in the coming weeks.

If you’re keen to support ethical businesses, but would prefer to stay at home, Dove Books, a second-hand bookshop run by St Christopher’s, have got a special “Lock down lucky dip books” event running. 20 mystery books delivered for $20

There are a few Kiwi businesses offering some of their art for free in the form of colouring pages. Here are a couple of places to try if you haven’t found any yourself.
