The Resurrection
“Christ is risen - He is risen indeed. Alleluia!”, with these words the Resurrection of Jesus is declared and a whole new way of being, a new way of living is inaugurated. As John Chrysostom wrote in his incredible Easter sermon “The Lord is risen, He is risen indeed! If there are devout and God-loving people here, let them enjoy this beautiful, radiant festival”. Wise words indeed so let us celebrate life, with our living Lord and Saviour!
The fact that Christ is risen, that the tomb was empty, is central to our faith as disciples of Jesus. Through the Cross and the Resurrection sins are forgiven, “If Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins.” (1 Cor 15:17). The forgiveness that we receive is a gracious act from God made available to us in and through Jesus. The challenge that we have, the command we are given by Jesus, is to extend God’s grace that we receive into the lives of others, “We love because he first loved us” (1 John 4:19).
Even in our darkest hour we celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus and the hope that we receive in this life and in the future. It is Jesus’s Resurrection that secures our future, our own future resurrection. This Easter Day, and every day, may we celebrate and give thanks to our Resurrected Lord and Saviour, who pours love over and in us.
God Bless

We are confronted by how easy it is to go from the joyful singing of “Hosanna” to the baying for blood in shouting “Crucify”.
During this time the Church’s liturgy is somber and empresses a sorrowful mood as we focus more intently on the coming crucifixion of Christ.
